Adventure Capital

What does 'adventure' mean to you when it comes to your career or financial journey?

For many of us, chasing financial security or freedom is a big driver. But alongside that, there's also the invaluable 'capital' of a life well-lived – with meaningful shared experiences, community connections, and exciting events like adventures!

For me, part of the 'adventure' after moving to Perth from New Zealand for better economic opportunities has been exploring Australia's incredible landscapes actively.

This year, an exciting opportunity has come up: I'm running the Larapinta Trail in August near Alice Springs with a friend from Fremantle, and I've decided to tack on the Gravel Muster ride a few days later while I'm there!

Looking at the flyers with those stunning panoramic outback views is incredibly motivating for training. But beyond the personal challenge, this adventure has sparked great spin-off communities and connections. I've started a local running group leading to new friendships and connections, and collaborated with communities like Freo Triathlon for route ideas, leading to fun shared mini-adventures around Perth in places I never knew existed!

During times of uncertainty, having a big, hairy, audacious goal like this serves as an anchor. It raises your game in terms of readiness, and that sense of purpose and energy flows into other areas of your life.

I just love how seeking a new adventure can lead to unexpected connections and opportunities.

Have you had a similar experience where a personal pursuit opened new doors or created unexpected connections? Or perhaps you're looking forward to your own big adventure that doubles as a life investment? Share your thoughts below!
