Trans Cape - again!

When my Wednesday morning running buddy asked if I’d partner for the Trans Cape swim run I didn’t hesitate. It’s the most beautiful stretch of coastline in the South West. It was choppier in the first few swims than last year, but I can’t get enough of this stretch of coastline and running and swimming along it is sublime. A shark sighting meant we got to skip the final swim which Mark was overjoyed by and I was a bit disappointed by!

Xterra Triathlon…and Half Marathon, on a whim

Such a great time in Dunsborough again for the XTERRA Asia-Pacific champs. The cyclone, giant waves and rain didn’t stop us. At some point during the awards evening I decided it would be a great idea to tack on the trail half marathon the next day. So this is what happened and and I picked up another 2nd.

In some ways the half marathon was actually more satisfying as there was more competition in the age group and it was a bit of an experiment. I felt super strong throughout which reflects a decent training block since Christmas.

This was a great way to wrap up Multisport March - 5 weekends of back-to-back events with the Otway Odyssey, Trans Cape, Collie Adventure Race, Coogie and Xterra double.

So much fun and adventures in one month!

At time of writing what was also super cool is that there were three Kiwi midlife women featuring at the top of the Xterra stories, and we all raced the recent Dunsborough race.

I met Arna and her husband the year before at the 2025 event so it was great to catchup again this year, and have since connected with Josie. We all know people in common, which is pretty normal when you meet Kiwis as it’s a small country!
