Collie Adventure Race
The satisfaction of executing a plan well with lots of moving parts!
This weekend’s antics…Collie Adventure Race. A 10km paddle, 22km MTB, 1km swim and 11km trail run👌Had a blast and was 3rd in open women.
This was my first adventure race, inspired by reading ‘Are you trying to kill us?’ about 20 years of adventure racing in the Coromandel NZ over the Christmas holidays - I somehow ended up on the mailing list!
There’s a lot of moving parts to think through in a race like this, gear choices, transitions, fuelling during the event, etc.
It’s very satisfying to pull it all off seamlessly and fuel right so you have a strong run and negative split the second half of the run to finish strong. I also won prize money!
Awesome atmosphere and great to share the experience with a few Fremantle surf club buddies.
Collie is like an undiscovered gem near Perth, the trails and outdoors adventure options here are awesome and it’s nearer to Perth than the Margaret River area. This race has been revived in recent years and it’s definitely worth checking out.
